Don’t Lie To The Cops About Who You Are

Don’t Lie To The Cops About Who You Are

- CV, Texas

Answer:

I see it all the time. Someone has outstanding traffic tickets, get stopped again, and they give a fake name to the cops.

These days, we all know the police have computers in their cars. If the name you give doesn’t match one in the system, the odds are that you’ll get caught. If you get caught at the scene, you’ll get arrested – and it is an offense that will result in jail time.

If they had just given the cops the correct name, you might spend a night in jail for the tickets. Instead you’re looking at up to six months in jail and up to a $2000 fine.

If you get to the jail and sign in under the false name, you could be looking at a felony.

The moral of the story….if you have tickets, be honest before you cause yourself more problems.

If you do get charged with failure to identify in Austin, I can help – give me a call for a free consultation.
